If you have ever worked with resistance bands in a rehabilitation or training setting, you know how important it is to choose the right resistance level. But did you know that there is a universal colour system for resistance bands that helps therapists and trainers around the world instantly identify the level of resistance?
MVS In Motion offers two top notch ranges of resistance bands: the classic Moves bands and the more vibrant and modern Moves FIT line. In this blog, we will guide you through the resistance levels, colour coding, and elongation percentages. That way, you can confidently recommend or select the best tools for your clients and patients.
Resistance bands follow a widely accepted colour scheme, particularly popular among physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals. Each colour represents a different resistance level:
These colours are globally recognised and allow for quick, intuitive selection during therapy or training sessions.
To appeal to a broader customer base and keep things fresh, we offer Moves FIT, a youthful and trendy alternative to the traditional colours. While the resistance levels are exactly the same as the universal coding, the colours have been given a more contemporary makeover:
By offering both Moves Original and Moves FIT ranges, you can serve both traditional rehabilitation professionals and younger, more trend-conscious fitness clients, all while boosting your sales potential.
Resistance is not just about colour, it is also about elongation. This refers to how far a band can be stretched from its resting length. Moves bands are designed with exceptional elasticity. They can be stretched up to 300% of their resting length, and Moves loops go even further, up to 400%!
• 50% elongation = 1.5 × the original length
• 100% elongation = 2 × the original length
• 150% elongation = 2.5 × the original length
• 300% elongation = 4 × the original length
• 400% elongation = 5 × the original length
This wide range allows for an incredible variety of exercises. From gentle rehab to full-body strength training, the possibilities are endless.
In our catalogue, you will find detailed resistance tables for every product. These tables indicate how many kilograms of resistance are generated at each elongation level. This is a critical tool when prescribing exercises with precision.
For example:
A red Moves band provides 1,8 kg of resistance at 100% elongation. This means that when you stretch the band to twice its original length, the force needed to hold or continue stretching it equals 1,8 kilograms.
Every band and every resistance level will differ, so always consult the table corresponding to the product you are using to ensure accurate programming and progress tracking.
If you have any questions about resistance levels, elongation, or how to choose the right band for your specific needs, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team is always happy to assist you.
